Concept
Television of the near future is interactive. This calls for an intuitive interface. People are not used to communicate with their TV-set and the Graphical User Interface (GUI) has to work for all ages, genders and cultures.
The concept of BRAINS [Basic Rules of Advanced Intuitive Navigation Systems] is built from experience with design in the digital domains.
The most important principles include clever use of icons combined with brief texts and pleasant choice of colour.
As there is no pointing device, all navigation has to be performed using only four arrow keys and an ok key on the remote control.
